This article aims to guide and introduce aspiring players to the world of Axie Infinity. The guide will be divided into several segments, while going deeper into the ins and outs of the game.
Axie Infinity is an online game created by Sky Mavis, a Vietnamese-based game studio. This game uses a “Non-Fungible Token” based system to create an ethereum-based cryptocurrency, namely the Axie Infinity Shards (AXS) and the Smooth Love Potions (SLP). Both of these being the main marketable items in the game and how players earn through playing.
The AXS and SLP cryptocurrency can be both acquired in-game through questing and events, or through player-initiated initiatives (e.g. raffles, contests).
Axie Infinity combines the turn-based elements of classic Roleplaying-video games, with the complexity of games like Pokemon, as well as the card-elements of Kingdom Hearts: Chain of Memories from Gameboy Advanced.
Like most video games, One of the tasks of a player is to battle and level up their Axies, either through AI-battles in Adventure Mode or competitive Player-vs-Player mode.
Axie Infinity also uses an energy-based system. Accounts are given a maximum of 20 energy to spend in either game mode. Each battle deducts 1 energy from the energy pool, and allows the player to acquire both Axie experience and SLPs. Energy will automatically recharge for an account at a rate of 5 energy every 6 hours.
Although Axie allows Players to continue playing without energy, players will not get the experience and SLP rewards for their matches.
